It is Good and I am Thankful
“Know that the Lord is God.
For the Lord is good and His love endures forever.
His faithfulness continues throughout all generations.”

Have you ever been excited wide awake at 4 am and know you are experiencing the prompting of God? I did this morning and IT WAS GOOD! I felt an overwhelming need to sit with my Bible, a cup of warm tea, and, recognizing this prompting, I was eager to have extra time for Bible study and prayer. I can for certain claim this will be the best part of my day and I’m thankful for the time spent reading and studying His scriptures.
My understanding of who God is, how deeply He loves us and how I see Him at work in my life only grows during time alone with the pages of my Bible open. I want to encourage you, my friend, to experience the same.
As we approach Thanksgiving will you set some extra time aside and ponder how good it is of God to give us His holy scriptures? It is truly a gift for us and one we are privileged to open everyday.
Is it easier for you to spend time with God reciting your long list of needs, or sharing your deep concerns? If so, open to the Book of Psalms or create a playlist filled with praise music. Remember, God already knows our needs.
Here are some great Psalms to read back to God and grow in thankfulness for God.
Psalm 100 (NIV)
“Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth.
Worship the Lord with gladness; come before Him with joy.
Know that the Lord is God.
It is He who made us, and we are His,
We are His people, the sheep of His pasture.
Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise;
Give thanks to Him and praise His name.
For the Lord is good it His love endures forever;
His faithfulness continues to all generations.
Read a few of these in different versions and write your favorite verse from these on a notecard and place it in your car - Psalm 19, Psalm 48, Psalm 66, Psalm 93.

This Thanksgiving take some extra time to express your gratitude for who God is and be thankful for He has given us a beautiful book to know how much He loves each of us. I know He is a good Father who does more for me in any given day than I will ever see. It is often when I sit reading His Bible I recognize His great love for me, my family and friends.
But it is good for me to draw near unto God:
I have made the Lord Jehovah my refuge,
That I may tell of all thy works.
