Are You Willing?

And through your faith,

God is protecting you by his power

Until you receive this salvation,

Which is ready to be revealed

On the last day for all to see.

1 Peter 1:5 (NLT)

I was thrilled when recently asked to speak at a national webinar on  a topic I am passionate about, for an organization I greatly appreciate. Almost immediately, gratitude rose up and thankfulness to God for the opportunity came to mind.  Just as quickly, my mind turned to the scheduling, the content and the best impact on the audience.

The next step was to submit my bio and that is when the Lord caught my attention and made a powerful point. In reviewing my bio for any edits needed, I was suddenly overwhelmed at what God has done in my life. Real tears poured out as I thought about God’s mercy and grace in allowing me to be a part of His kingdom work here on earth. The opportunities and open doors God has set before me are truly miraculous. If I'm being honest, I am completely unqualified and undeserving. But also, God has protected me in some situations that only He could have. He has steered my life in ways that only He could have. This protection from the Lord ensures I stay on track to the calling He has given me. As I look back upon my life I recognize God’s hands of protection over me from an early age. Don't misunderstand, my life has had challenges, disappointments and hardships as most people experience-but God has never given up on me or forgotten about me.

God is truly amazing with how He works all things for our good. (Romans 8:28)  That doesn't mean all things which happen to us are good. However, if we are able to catch a glimpse of what God is doing in our lives, even in the hard messy things, we can surely see His goodness and mercy.

You may be wondering what God has planned for you and  feel unworthy, not ready or capable to serve God in impactful ways.  If you are passionate about something that you see God is doing, pray to see if it’s His will for you to join Him. Start by seeking Him through prayer, reading His word  and journaling what God is showing you. Ask Him to open doors of opportunity and then talk to others about your passions and dreams.  God may even open your heart to some work you are not passionate about, as he did mine (that story is for another day). On more than one account He grew a passion in me to make an impact for the world around me.

Let’s remember God is able to do mighty things with those who are willing and seeking Him. To engage in what God is doing around us is one of the greatest JOYs on earth. Are you willing?

Now all glory to God, who is able, through His mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. Ephesians 3:20 (NLT)
